This ground re-opened on September 16, 1996 after a drastic renovation that only took 4 months. The first match played in the new ground has been vs. Roda JC. There are already new plans to build stands on the 4 corners. The number of seats would increase to approx. 8.000. RKC's old Sportpark Olympia used to have 6.200 seats too, but did not meet modern standards any longer. It was referred to as the 'bicycle-shelter'.
