The second ground in the Netherlands with a roof that can be closed. It's the first ground with a removable pitch. The pitch is placed in a bowl that can be moved out of the stadium. The roof stayed closed for over a year. Vitesse did not loose one single match with the roof closed. In the 1998-1999 season, Fortuna Sittard was the first team to beat Vitesse in Gelredome.
